POWER GRADERS
Step 1: Scarify and loosen the surface
Scarify the Surface
- with each pass the scarifying teeth will dig deeper, to loosen hardpacked materials.
Remove Large Rocks
-scarifying may unearth some larger rocks. Remove these and add them to the weight tray to increase scarifying depth.
Cut Down High Spots
-including washboard, or any high spots around potholes.
Step 2: Redistribute the road material
By raising the scarifying teeth off the ground, you can use the rear leveling blade to redistribute loosened material.
Fill in potholes, ruts and gullies
Add material to thin spots, for an even depth
Spread material over the entire road, for a clean and level finish
Step 3: Add the finishing touches
Work on each side of the "crown"
- the centre of your driveway-- to maintain the slope from the centre of the road to the shoulder. Hint: never grade down the middle of your driveway, unless your driveway is too high in the centre. By working on each side of the crown, you can easily maintain the slope from the centre of the road to the shoulder.
Smooth the shoulders of the driveway
- removing berms that can prevent water from draining off the road.
Touch up on a regular basis
- once your driveway is in good condition, a regular grooming is quick and easy.
